Theater for Young Audiences: professional shows made specifically for children and families.
TYA companies create plays and musicals written for young audiences, usually performed by adult professional actors. Shows are often an hour or less, built for school groups and weekend family audiences, and many are adapted from picture books and children's novels. It is a different thing from youth theater, where the young people are the ones on stage.
